Home Remodeling – Remodel and Update the Look of Your Home

This home remodel is an example of how a renovation can completely change the look and feel of a home.
From updating the style to letting in more light, smart design choices have brought this home into the 21st century. The new feel has remodeled the home to add to the sense of space without having to add to the original footprint of the home.

Opening up the kitchen and removing a wall starts this home remodel. This also allows more natural light from the dining room to enter the kitchen area.
To supplement the new natural light, recessed lighting, pendant lighting, and under-cabinet task lighting was also added. This allows easy customization of the light levels.
To further modernize the kitchen area, the traditional box cabinets are replaced with rift-cut white oak curved cabinet doors with a uniform horizontal grain. The cabinets are custom built onsite and create a sense of flow as the style is repeated throughout the home.
The home remodel included adding a custom-built white-oak slat wall to allow additional light into the home. The natural light from new glass-paned doors flows through the openings in the slat wall and enters the kitchen area.
The open slat walls surround a staircase, but because of the openness, the claustrophobic “hallway” feel is prevented.
In addition, the entryway was enlarged, and a new powder room and pantry were added (not visible on photo). New white oak flooring begins in the entry and is used in all of the remodeled areas of the home.

In remodeling the home’s family room, dark ceiling beams were removed. In this room, the ceiling beams caused the room to feel smaller.
Once the beams were removed and recessed lighting was added, the room opened up significantly.
To further add natural light, the built-in bookcase, original to the home, was remodeled to accommodate a new window. A computer work station and open display area were also added.
